My 7-year old son participated in a spelling bee competition a few months back and came home interested in doing more Math. NSF also has a program to coach students during the year before the competitions. So I took the plunge to not only register Manu for Math (he will be in the MB1 Program) but also register myself as a coach for MB2 Program for the 3-5th graders.<\/p>\n<p>There are about 12 parents from across the USA, who had registered for the MB2 class. Today I attended a well organized coaches&#8217; training program. I am excited to have the opportunity to learn more and contribute along the way. It reminds me of the days when I taught math and computer science in high school and in the undergraduate days, nearly 25+ years back.<\/p>\n<p>Below is the introduction I sent to the first registrants. The classes will start in October and run for 15 sessions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;-\u00a0&#8212;&#8212;-\u00a0&#8212;&#8212;-\u00a0&#8212;&#8212;-\u00a0&#8212;&#8212;-\u00a0&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p><strong>Murali Krishnan<\/strong>\u00a0enjoys coaching and learning with the kids. He is thankful to many of his math and science teachers helping him learn and grow. In the spirit of giving back, Murali volunteers in many kids related activites. He is a Cub Scouts Den leader for his son&#8217;s team, a Destination Imagination Appraiser, a Math and Computer Science instructor, and a public speaker. He is an advisor at SparkSIP.org connecting high schoolers with entrepreneurial companies for summer internships. Professionally, Murali has more than twenty years of software leadership experience working with\u00a0big and small companies globally.\u00a0Murali lives with his family and two children in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
