Book: The War of Art

Recently, I heard about this book The War of Art from a friend of mine. Steven Pressfield, the author describes the major challenges many people face when creating new artifacts.

All people including authors, artists, architects, composers, entrepreneurs, et al face the challenge. Some of them face a stable employment or income issue. However most of them face the resistance to get their creative work done. The resistance is NOT even external. It is mostly internal resistance. The internal voice that nags at us blocking our creative potential from becoming real.

We are encouraged by many to dream, and even dream big. Dreams alone cannot bring forth the beneficial results. Dreams become real when we take continuous and consistent actions to fulfill the dream. In the course of action, we often face obstacles that stumble us. Creative people want to take on ambitious projects which may be tough. Tough nature of the prejects should not stop us even if it may slow us down signifcantly. Knowing the resistance and not fearing about it is first step. Taking steps beyond the resistance is even better to help us reach our potential.
