Destination Imagination (aka DI) offers fun and creative team based challenges for teams of up 4-7 kids. Both my kids had participated in the past few years. It encourages them to learn, create, and share with the team. The teams solve a team wide challenge for the entire year preparing props to show along with story and a bit of performance act. And the teams also get to do Instant Challenges that asks them to work on the spot to solve issues immediately within 6-8 minutes.
In the past two years, I also volunteered as an appraiser at the regional tournaments in Bellevue. I was impressed to see the creativity and performance of the teams of kids in elementary through high school. There are teams that are new and there are teams that have been together for nearly 8 years. And there are volunteers who had contributed to DI for a decade or two. Impressive!

We will form a Rising Stars team of 4-6 kids at Medina Elementary preferably with both boys and girls on the team. Rising Stars team is for kids in the K-2nd grade. They kids have a lot of creativity and definitely are learning to work together besides playing. Let us see how this year turns out to be.
